Spectaculum
Privacy policy
Spectaculum (formerly called "Cineteca") is a video player that shows the files you keep in your own clouds, on your network or on your device. It's developed by Hosttem SpA, Santiago, Chile. This policy applies to the apps for Android, Android TV and Windows, to the web app at spectaculum.app/app and to this site.
The essentials
- Your videos never pass through our servers: they go straight from your cloud or NAS to your screen.
- The permissions the app requests for your clouds are read-only.
- The access keys to your clouds are stored on your device, not on our systems.
- We don't sell personal data.
Data that stays on your device
- The credentials for your sources (OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox and MEGA tokens; address, username and password for SMB, WebDAV or FTP folders). On Windows they're stored encrypted and tied to your system user.
- Your library, your progress in each video, what you've already watched, your settings and the files you download to watch offline.
- If you use OpenSubtitles, the username and password for your OpenSubtitles account.
In the web app, this data is stored in the browser's storage (IndexedDB) and can only be read by this site.
Data that does reach our systems
Only if you use features that need it:
- Spectaculum account (optional): if you create an account with email, Google or Microsoft, we store your email, your name and your profile picture to identify you. We use Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, from Google.
- Social features (optional): if you add friends, post your watch diary or share a library, we store that information in Firestore to show it to the people you choose. Sharing a library shows the titles; it doesn't give access to your files.
- Feedback: whatever you write to us from "Send feedback," along with the app version.
- Usage statistics: if you have an account, the app reports the version, the platform and the last time it was opened, so we know which versions are still in use.

Advertising and cookies
The content pages on this site (like the guides) show Google AdSense ads. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can turn off personalized ads in Google's ad settings or learn more about how Google uses cookies in advertising. If you visit the site from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you'll be asked for consent first.
The Android, Android TV and Windows apps don't show ads, and the web app doesn't show ads either while you browse your library or play a video.
How to delete your data
- Device data: disconnect each source in Settings, use "Clear library," or uninstall the app. On the web, clear the site data in your browser.
- Account: write to contacto@spectaculum.app from your account's email address asking us to delete it. We'll delete it along with its social information (friends, diary and shared libraries) within 30 days at most and confirm by email.
- Cloud permissions: you can revoke the app's access at any time from your Microsoft, Google or Dropbox account settings.
Children
Spectaculum is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with its effective date.
